Cal Tech Folk Music Society  Pasadena Ca

I don't think I told you...our audiences almost always ask for an encore, but they very rarely give a quick standing ovation, the way they did on Saturday night. The blend of music and performing style which you gave them impressed them very favorably.  Also, that really was excellent attendance for your first time here. Including students, the attendance was a bit over 100. If you do need a reference for other venues, I will be happy to provide one.

I hope your trip home has gone well. You just missed this week's change   of weather here. Since Saturday, the temperature has dropped twenty degrees and it is currently raining. Sigh...

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank the two of you for the awesome performance you gave to the patrons of the Courthouse Series. We have received numerous positive comments regarding your performance. The audience appreciated the quality music mixed with a nice overview of the music and instruments. It was a great working with you both. It is nice to associate with people who truly love what they do. It shows in your music and in you actions.

Thank you very much, I hope to do more with you in both in the future. I hope it was an enjoyable event for you.

“They brought the whole package: technique, musicianship, creativity and most importantly,
the e-word… entertainment! With an obvious love for the music, they held the crowd from
the first song to the end of the second standing ovation! Can I use the word “Plutonium”
somewhere?”

Dahl Arts Center Rapid City SD

Willson and McKee are better than any review I could write for them.

When I started booking performers for the Dahl Arts Center in Rapid City, SD in 2003, I had heard about Willson and McKee. The bluegrass community encouraged me to book the husband and wife acoustic duo, said they were great, fabulous, funny, yada yada. But I really didn't believe a duo could hold an audience for an entire 90 minute show. So I booked Willson and McKee for a show, WITH AN OPENER. What a mistake. Willson and McKee were so professional and attention grabbing from the time they took the stage, they didn't need a warm up act.

Kim McKee has a voice like a flute or reed. It is beautiful and pure, with rich overtones. Her mastery of the unusual instruments she plays is remarkable as well as mesmerizing. Ken is gifted with a fluid and melodic voice which wraps around the great tunes and intricate harmonies of the Celtic tradition. Ken is an amazing musician skilled in a variety of unusual instruments as well.

Together, they create a show that takes you to the past in the present. The tunes are familiar, sad and wonderful all at the same time. They are songs of full strong lives and unforgettable stories that deserve a special place in our collective memory.

Willson and McKee are master musicians, consummate singers and songwriters, with funny stories and a feeling that you are listening to your most talented friends play in your living room. They sell out the house each time they are here. I booked them a second time and I did not hire an opener. Willson and McKee kept the sold out house entertained for 90 minutes plus two encores. Kim and Ken are welcome at the Dahl anytime they are coming through the area.
